Today is Gumboot Friday. Gumboot Friday, which was created by Mike king 4 years ago, is a day to raise awareness for mental health. Mental Health is important. Mike King, who is also a famous New Zealander comedian, was also depressed. When he made this day, he had the idea that if he struggles with depression, imagine what young depressed people feel. All of this to create Gumboot Friday.

My class and I have been pairing up with people we do not talk to and just connect with them. It is one of two ways to get into a good habit to enjoy your day. One is to take notice of all the beautiful things around you. The other is to connect with your friends and talk with them.

I also have learn’t many things. Like I did not know who Mike King was, I did not even know what Gumboot Friday was. But there is one fact that I learn’t that surprised me. Surprisingly, New Zealand has a high rate of suicidal rates, especially young people. I think this is the main factor why Gumboot Friday was made.

This is the Annunciation.

Some of you may be wondering what the Annunciation even is, well you came to the right place.

On Friday, 25th of March. My School along with practically all the Christians in the world celebrated this certain feast day. We sang songs like This event happened when the Angel of Gabriel came down to Mary of Nazareth, Daughter of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne and told her that she would bore a son. Mary was quite hesitant at first but after a while agreed with the angel and answered with “YES” in a very loud voice where her entire hometown could hear… Ok not really but you get the point.

This is an important event  because its basically the start off or kind of like a teaser for holy week. It is also important because it is the birth of Jesus.

On the same day the whole world at the same time prayed for the people that have passed away in the Russo-Ukrainian war.

On the Annunciation we all prayed the rosary (Because it is important to Mary due to the fact that most of the words are to her) and we all sang songs like the Our father in Maori and the Sub Tuum or Antiphona
